SocioThougth was a small publishing house committed to critical and
reflective academic works.
The mission was to to overcome
limitations of traditional small volume academic publishing. While
employing a peer review process like an academic publishing house,
we provide quick feedback about the feasibility of your book
project, publish your work inexpensively, and make it accessible to
a wide audience.
After more than 15 years I am closing SocioThought Inc. It was an interesting experience running my publishing company. I used some of this experience when I taught a course on International Publishing as a visiting faculty at the Université Paris X, Nanterre, France. From the feedback I learned that my publications provoked some thought – which was the purpose of SocioThought. As an author and the president and CEO of SocioThought I pushed ideas that were ahead of their time and, therefore, did not find mainstream publishing outlets.
Times have changed, and some scholars woke up to idea of true gender equality and a new masculinity. With some academics coming out of the closet, the acceptance grew, and authors do not have to take a feminist perspective anymore to get published. I personally welcome this tendency and enjoy reading what I consider the first meaningful publications about masculinity after The New Man. After 26 years of being a university professor it is time for me to move on.
In the past I did some extreme motorcycle solo trips in Namibia, Lesotho, Mosambique, and South Africa. In 2023 I drove a Royal Enfield from Mumbay down the Western coast of to Kerala. This Spring of 2024 I plan to ride the TET (Trans European Trail) through Spain. I might hit sections of the classic Paris-Dakar Rally in Marrocco.
Restoring classic cars and motorcycles in my shops in Germany and Texas I went full cycle back to my teenage roots as a factory-trained Mercedes mechanic.
