Khmer Rouge, let by Pol Pot 1975 to 1979

About 2 million Cambodians were exterminated during this time as enemies of the state. In January 2016,  visited two place in Phnom Penh: S21 or Tuol Sleng and the so called "Killing Fields" of Choeung Ek

S21 was a former school in Phnom Penh that was converted into an interrogation camp. Prisoners had to confess under torture. The regime maintained elaborated records of the interrogation. Death of an imamate was an accident, a mistake of the torturer.  After their confession prisoners were transported to the so called Killing Fields in a suburb of Phnom Penh.

Once they were selected for interrogation, prisoners were transferred from the mass cells upstairs into solitary confinement in the second floor.

Despite much traffic by visitors, the stains on the floor remain.

Having visited S21 I needed a day off before I had the stomach to visit the killing fields.
