My only question was: where can I rent these things? Obviously there were not for rent. Taking them on the typical local transportation was quite a sight.

Update 2017: Sometimes dreams come true. During my Fulbright stay in Thailand 2012/13 I met the trainer of the Thai National PPC Team (PPC, also called a motorized parachute or paraplane). With him I took my first lessens:
